Woolwich Classic Hunt Jacket

woolrich-classic-huntThe first jacket I want to go over is the Woolrich Classic Hunt Jacket. The jacket has received four and a half star ratings on Amazon.com due to its High quality build and materials. The jacket is made primarily out of wool. The fabric blend is 80% wool and 20% nylon which gives the jacket a very soft yet durable exterior. The jacket has plenty of storage options for all your personal belongings you may need. There are four exterior front pockets, and internal security pocket, and a back stowage pocket originally intended for your caught game. The jackets has as many convenience features as it has pockets, including but not limited to and oversized collar and a front placket covering the front buttons. The oversized collar has under collar tab keeps designed to help keep the collar up to block out the wind. The front placket has a similar design purpose, if you have ever worn a jacket that has buttons in the front you would know that wind can come in through those spots; the placket keeps out that wind by covering all of the holes. The jacket comes in a classic red and black plaid finish. The jacket is a great value. The price is a little more expensive at $$$ but is totally worth it.

Legendary Whitetails The Outdoorsman Buffalo Jacket

legendary-whitetailsAnother classic on our list is the Outdoorsman by Legendary White Tails. Similar to Woolrich’s Classic Hunt, The Outdoorsman has a four and a half star rating on Amazon.com.  Depending on which pattern you select, either a traditional red plaid or a stylish grey ombre plaid, you will have different fabric blends. The red plaid is made with a 70% wool, 12% acrylic and 18% other material; and the grey ombre plaid has 51% wool, 23% polyester, 13% acrylic, and 13% other. The inner body is fully lined with Sherpa so that it is soft on your skin and holds the heat in well, the arms are lined with a quilted satin material for comfort. The cuffs come with a two button system for adjustability and weather proofing. Unlike the Classic Hunt jacket this one only has four pockets, two are breast pockets and two are the hand warmer pockets. This jacket does come in big and tall sizes so there is a comfortable fit for every size person. The jacket is less expensive than the Classic Hunt at a rating of $ but you do give up some of the nice features and storage.

Woolrich Men’s Charley Brown Jacket

woolrich-charley-brownThe third jacket on our list is another one by Woolrich named affectionately as the Charley Brown Jacket. The jacket is similar to the Classic Hunt by Woolrich in the material blend that is used to make the jacket but different in the details and cost. The jacket touts an impressive five star rating on Amazon.com. The jacket is made out of 80% wool, and 20% Nylon. The jacket comes in five classic color patterns. You can get the Charley Brown Jacket in black plaid, Dark Copen which is a plaid mixture of red, blue, grey, and white, which is my personal favorite, a nice olive plaid, trail brown which is a combination of browns and blue, and olive which is still a plaid but is lighter in color then the other olive option listed. The Charley Brown was designed to have a looser and classic fit, for everyday situations where comfort is of the utmost importance. The jacket has two breast pockets, and the standard hand warming pockets, but it also comes equipped with an interior security pocket with cord ports meant for your gadgets, and a “button-through” utility pocket allowing for easy access. The jacket is a good compromise between The Outdoorsman’s price and the Classic Hunt’s features, and at a price rating of $$ it is hard to beat.

Walker and Hawkes Men’s Derby Tweed Shooting Hunting Country Jacket

walker-hThe final jacket in our lineup is another classic. The Walker & Hawkes Hunting jacket seems like the kind of jacket that would be right at home on a duck or fox hunt in Britain in the 1860’s. It is a timeless jacket to say the least. The jacket has a well-deserved five star rating on Amazon.com. The jacket has a material blend of 60% wool, 25% polyester, and 15% other materials. The jacket is built for rugged conditions with all of its features. The jacket’s seams are all reinforced to ensure there will be no blowouts. To go along with the reinforced seams, the zippers are heavy duty making it harder for them to crimp or detached from the jacket. The exterior of the jacket has features that are just as thoughtful. The outside of the jacket is Teflon treated to help keep the jacket clean by repelling dirt, mud, water, and really anything that you may get on it while wearing it. The jackets shell has a special breathable membrane that runs between the layers of fabric. The special membrane is added in to further help waterproof the jacket while the jacket is still breathable. The jacket comes equipped with the standard hand warmer pockets but also comes with two breast pockets and one inside security pocket. Overall the jacket is a decent value with a lot of weather proofing details and coming in at a middle of the road price point, the rating of $$.

In the end there are plenty of jacket choices out there, but if you are looking for the best wool hunting coats, you are sure to find it on this list. Make sure you check out our best single pin bow sights.
